Disk Storage

With our Plan A account, you get 1000 megabytes of disk storage. This is usually more than enough to store your Web pages on. Our main Web page with buttons, text and all come out to less than 100 Kilobytes. That's one tenth of a megabyte! Of course the more graphics you have on your site, the more space you will use. Our Plan B comes with 800 megabytes of disk space. This plan offers the extra space to accommodate Real Audio, Real Video, and mySQL files. FTP Logins

FTP is the most common method for transferring files to servers on the Web. An FTP login allows you to log into an FTP space and move files around. It consists of a username and password. Having multiple FTP logins allows for multiple users to have access to parts or all of the space. For instance, if you have a subdomain of your account, you may wish to give a different Webmaster an FTP login that only has access to the subdomain, so that they can make changes.

POP3 Accounts

POP3 accounts are full-fledged email accounts. They allow you to send and receive email. They come with their own username and password to access them. You can configure any POP mail client program to use these e-mail accounts. ProHosting provides a Web-based e-mail client for you also.  You can access it at http://mail.your_domain.com (do not include www).

Email Auto Responders

Email auto responders allow you to set up an email account with the ability to auto-reply with a given message when someone sends email to it. It looks like a pop account. You have probably seen one when you send email to somewhere and it comes right back with "We got your email" or something to that effect. That was most likely an auto responder.

Domain Aliases

Domain aliases are domains that point at the same location. For instance, prohosting.net is a domain alias of prohosting.com. Regular domains or Vanity domains can be used for this purpose. (a vanity domain is a prefix to a full domain, like the www in www.prohosting.com )

Sub Domains

Sub Domains are similar to Domain aliases, but a Sub Domain points to a sub-directory of the main domain. For instance, http://fileman.prohosting.com is a subdomain of prohosting.com, and it points at the /support/fileman_tutorial/ sub directory (found at http://www.prohosting.com/support/fileman_tutorial/) . Regular domains or Vanity domains can be used for this purpose. (a vanity domain is a prefix to a full domain, like the fileman in fileman.prohosting.com )

EZMLM Mailing Lists

EZMLM stands for Easy Mailing List Manager, and is a powerful tool for handling large newsletters, product update letters, and other similar mailings. The manager provides many options, allowing you to set up a mailing list, or a discussion e-mail list.

Unlimited Email Forwarding

This feature allows you to setup forwarding email accounts that will send all the email they receive to a real POP account. Email aliases don't have usernames and passwords, they just redirect mail sent to them to a real pop account.

30 Gigabytes of Transfer

The most amount of transfer for your money. Most sites do not exceed a Gigabyte (gig) of transfer a month and we give you 30 gigs a month. If you do go over 30 gigs a month we offer the most reasonable prices for extra bandwith that you can find at $4/gig.

Access Control

With access control, you can create directories and set unique usernames and passwords to allow people to access those directories. If they don't have the username/password, they can't get into that directory via http. This is handy to implement for members only areas of your site.

Domain Registration

Microsoft® FrontPage® 2002 Extensions

Microsoft® FrontPage® allows you to create Web pages on your computer, and then publish them to our servers in one easy step. Microsoft® FrontPage® also comes with many features to help enhance your Web site. In order to accomplish this, Microsoft requires that certain extension files be installed to your web directory. If you need these to be installed to your account, you must e-mail support@prohosting.com. We provide extensions for all versions of FrontPage since FrontPage 97. We do not support any beta versions of FrontPage.

Account Control Panel or "NetAdmin"

With our online control panel, you can update or modify your account settings 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You can edit e-mail settings, create new e-mail accounts and autoresponders, as well as e-mail forwarding. You have access to your billing history, and profile information, as well as the options to upgrade, including e-commerce, at any time. Other features inside the control panel include domain aliasing and subdomain control, MySQL database manager, and a handy file manager utility that gives you all the access you need to your files and directories. Graphical Traffic Reports

Each account keeps a complete log of all traffic, and puts it into a graphical, easy to understand format. You can see which pages are the most popular, and hourly statistics. The statistics even include a report of referring URLs, and reverse lookups, so you can see who is looking at your site, by world region! Just go to your_domain.com/stats to see your account's reports. You can also see the statistics for all domain aliases and subdomains individually at your_domain.com/stats/domain_alias.com or your_domain.com/stats/sub_domain.com .

Access to Raw Log Files

We offer you access to raw access and error logs for your domain. You can download them to your computer and run log analysis tools on them to see who's looking at your Web pages and what they're looking at.

We allow you to build your own custom cgi scripts to liven up your Web site.

Battery Backup

We have our servers plugged into UPS's. This ensures that if the power goes out where the servers are located, your Web page won't be affected.

System backups

We back up our servers to ensure that in the case of a hard drive crash or other similar incident, your data will be safe. System backups are not intended to be used to restore individual files. It is your responsibility to maintain a backup of your files.

Same Day Setup

We will process your account the day we receive payment. This does not necessarily mean that your domain will be fully functional the day we receive payment. Domain registration generally takes longer. On average, you can expect to wait 24-48 hours for a new domain name registration to complete.

SSL ensures that data sent from your viewers Internet browser will make it to our servers safely. If someone should intercept the data in-between your viewers browser and our server, it will be encrypted and they won't be able to do anything with it. Anonymous FTP

Anonymous FTP provides a way for you to allow your visitors to upload to a safe directory, without giving them your Administrative login name and password. They can also download files from a protected directory.

MS Access Database

Ms Access is a database format mostly used to store relatively small amounts of data and handles a small amount of transactions as originally it was designed for single user applications.

SQL 2000 Database Support

SQL is a high-end database system capable of hundreds of thousands of transactions per day. If coded to handle site traffic properly, databases can make your site both interactive and information-intensive. We recommend that you use Microsoft SQL (MS SQL) servers (instead of Access database) if you have a database-intensive or e-commerce-enabled Web site, or any site that cannot tolerate downtime.

Web sites that use Access/FoxPro/Jet Databases do not scale well under heavy traffic conditions, potentially resulting in a server crash if combined with inefficient programming statements. Although thousands of customers currently use Access or FoxPro databases on their Web sites without any performance issues, we provide MSSQL as a solution for those customers who desire an alternative or whose site traffic necessitates taking their site to the next level of performance.

Java Servelets

Servlets are modules that extend request/response-oriented servers, such as Java-enabled Web servers. For example, a servlet might be responsible for taking data in an HTML order-entry form and applying the business logic used to update a company's order database. Servlets are an effective replacement for CGI scripts. They provide a way to generate dynamic documents that is both easier to write and faster to run. Servlets also address the problem of doing server-side programming with platform-specific APIs: they are developed with the Java Servlet API, a standard Java extension.
